Midi Karaoke Music – Convenient and Versatile

MIDI Karaoke (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) is a computer file containing programmed musical notes. Karaoke MIDI files can come with or without lyrics. Karaoke music files with an extension of .KAR contain lyrics. Advantages of this format are its small file size and therefore relatively short download time. Other features include the ability to change/delete instruments, alter the music’s key, tempo, song duration and print sheet music. MIDI files can be modified using editing software. Karaoke songs can be created by adding lyrics to a standard MIDI file.

There are karaoke sites offering quality downloadable MIDI formatted files in a variety of music categories such as Country, Pop, Rock, Oldies, Christian and more. MIDI music also comes in different languages and cultural genres (e.g. Latino, Vietnamese, Hindi, Chinese).

Downloaded karaoke files can be played directly with a computer karaoke MIDI player or can be transferred to a floppy disc or CD to be played on a MIDI supported keyboard (with a LCD screen/monitor to display lyrics) or other compatible instrument.

Generally, the sound quality of a MIDI tune is not as good as digital music such as a MP3 file. However, the music quality depends on the quality of the device (e.g. computer sound card) playing the MIDI track. With a good sound card, MIDI music sounds great.
